WHAT DOES THE SCHOOL BOARD DO?
The Atlanta Board of Education establishes and approves the policies that govern the Atlanta Public Schools. The Board consists of nine members, representing 6 geographical districts and 3 “at-large” seats. Members serve a 4-year term.

SCHOOL BOARD At-Large SEATs
At-large seats are elected by all voters citywide, but candidates have to reside in a group of two School Board districts.
Seat 7 – School Board Districts 1 & 2 (City Council Districts 1-4)
Seat 8 – School Board Districts 3 & 4 (City Council Districts 5-8) [not being elected in 2023]
Seat 9 – School Board Districts 5 & 6 (City Council Districts 9-12)
