This year Atlanta will vote on a new Mayor, City Council, and School Board. Civics 101 is designed to help you become an informed voter about the function of these positions and the role they play in the everyday lives of Atlanta residents, so that we may better hold our local representatives accountable.

Atlanta is currently at a critical stage of growth and this election presents its residents with a major crossroads. This next group of leaders will decide the future face and culture of our city.

In partnership with the Center for Civic Innovation, Civics 101 is being offered so attendees will feel more confident about their understanding of the day to day roles and responsibilities of our elected city officials and able to share this important information with their communities as we get closer to the upcoming elections.

Attendees will receive informative handouts to distribute to family, friends, and local community members and learn answers to questions such as:

How does local government function?
What does the mayor do?
Who is running for city council?
Who controls the city budget?
Who do I contact about community needs?
